Im about to purchase a 07 gtx 155 just wondering if 6200 for just the ski no trailer is to expensive and what is its top speed. im 22 and want to have one of the fastest skis on the water. i also want it to look good. not sure if this is a look good fast ski or not never ridden one.

155 engines will get you in the 50's.

If you REALLY car about speed get a 4-tech engine with a super charger. They come in 215, 255, and 260 hip engines. My RXT-X is a 255 with a SC and I have hit 72 mph with stock components.

Also a bit hard to add performance to the 155 unless you spend about a grand on an update kit. They run near their max and it is hard to her more without the update.

thank you for your response. This is like the only nice ski in the area by me. there is a guy on craigslist with a rxt 215 for 6995 but he wont answer my emails and im starting to think its spam. im ready to purchase something this weekend and getting really anxious

and does 6200 with 52 hours and no trailer sound like a fair price? the guy is letting me test drive so im guessing it runs and he has nothing to hide

I paid 6200 for my 06 215 gtx limited with 8 hours with a brand new karavan trailer.. I would talk him down a little ways.. I'd say 5300-5500 would be a great price

and to answer your "balls to the wall" question in your previous post....

the gtx is more of a luxary performance ski.. the 155 is a great reliable motor... i can see it topping out around 52-55.. not the fastest ski out there but its a nice speed..my 215 supercharged gtx should top out around 65.. a pretty good speed... not gonna beat everything but i wont be left behind either

IMO if your looking for a full out race ski then the 155 is not for you.. nor is a gtx for you ... if you want to be comfortable in choppy water and have a straight reliable ski thats quick and fun then.. take a look at the gtx..

BUT if you want speed, speed, a rocket ship, speed, fast cornering, and jumping waves like crazy then try looking else where.. an rxt 215 COULD suit your needs... ive seen turbo charged 215s hitting 85MPH on water.. (after about 6 grand worth of parts and ALOT of fabrication)

Thank you for the input. I am test driving it on saturday. Ill probably offer him 5800 and see if he bites. its my first time ever on a jetski so ill probably keep it for the year and see if its what I want or need. if not theres always next season to restart.

actually just texted a guy with a 06 gp1300r with 24 hours he told me he was selling it today and he ended up not so im going to get the loan for his ski for 6500 with trailer. and pick it up saturday its a little bit more my style i think

running threw hose and no test drive

I am going to pick up a ski this weekend the guy said he can start it and run it with the hose connected but says its not inspected or registered to go in the lake as if there will be coast guard out in upstate new york around this time. should i be concerned?? how can i tell the ski actually will run ok in the water??? last year i bought a 96 spx the kid started up for me on the trailer and sounded good dropped it in the water and the thing would take off up to like 30 then bog right out after trying to run it like that for 20 mins it ended up started knocking and stalhed out. you would never be able to tell until it was in the water.

the guy said he will not let me test drive he can hook it up to a hose and run it. he said its not inspected or registered for this season as if there is a coast guard out on the water here in upstate ny around this time of year. should i be concerned? last season i bought a 96 spx and the kid started it on the trailer and it reved up fine and sounded good so i bought it. next day dropped it in the water and the thing would take off fast up to like 30 then bog down to like 10 after 20 mins it ended up stahling out and knocking in the motor i could feel through the seat. i ended up having to let it stahl out and turn back on to get the little forward propulsion for a half mile to shore and sold it the next day. how can i tell if the guy running it through the hose there is no problems?

wont allow test drive only run hose through it

the ski is a 06 gp1300r 2stroke 3 cylinder with 24 hours on it. should i be worried about not being able to test drive and how can i tell it will run fine once i drop it in the water???/???

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the only way you can tell if it will run without problems is to watertest it, he could be being overly paranoid, or hiding something, I think if you were to drop it in a lake it wouldn't be a problem if you stay close to the dock, and if they do give you a hard time you are just test riding it, and imo a ticket is worth the price to avoid the problems with a bad ski, or at least to offset the price of a perfectly running ski and one that needs work

Ive ever water-tested any of the ski's i have owned. Other may call me out. But i always visually inspect for abuse, maintenance issues, and just overall care of the machine. I also will not buy a ski without doing a compression test.Every ski i have purchased i have also tore the carbs off immediately and cleaned them prior to first ride.

ok thanks for the opinions. im going to try and convince him to let me ride it. or ill just low ball him. maybe ill see if my mechanic will come with me for a couple bucks and just point out anything thats wrong and i can get a better deal

just my thoughts, but I would negotiate a price with him assuming it runs as he says it does, because if you take it out for a spin, and then offer him something he won't even take, then seller would most def be annoyed and you both would have wasted time. If it doesn't run as it should, then you guys can further negotiate.

You have started three different threads, all asking pretty much the same question, I'm going to combine the three into one on the 4-tek section.

The Yamaha has a problem with the oil injection line on the third cylinder falling off, causing the cylinder to fail. Not sure of the years, but it is with the 3 cylinder engines. Some also had powervalve problems as well. If he won't let you take it for a ride, then have a shop check it out, otherwise walk away.

I have the ski just before the one in the link and love it.

I realize they come at a cost but don't care. When you squeeze the throttle and you are going 60mph in about 2.5 seconds it is a great feeling.

i ended up buying a 2007 gtx 155 with 44 hours on it. Has reverse nuetral boarding ladder all the bells and whistles. test driving it on monday when i have all the money and then loading it up on the new trailer i bought today!!!!!!!!
