OK, been having a rough start to the summer with my boat! So I had to change my Carbon seal, no problem, changes the carbon ring, 2 rubber seals and the snap ring. I purchase 2 ring clamps from Canadian tire to replace the factory one on the front boat by the grease nipple. I then pump some grease in the the nipple. Water test, all good, no more leaks from the carbon seal.

I still have a bit of an engine stutter in the mid range, but only after the engine warms up. I am going to change the fuel filter since I have never done this and get the TPS checked and aligned.

Yesterday afternoon, I was getting on plane with close to full throttle, all of a sudden this vibration immediately started. very consistent vibration through the rpm range, feels like something came out of balance.

So I cruise back, take it out of the water, inspect the pump, nothing. Take the pump off, nothing. Start it with the pump out, still vibrates.

Could this be a motor mount? If a counter balance in the crank failed, the engine wouldn't rev to top rpm as correct? And if the counter balance shaft failed, I am sure it would result in a destroyed engine correct? I also see we should be changing the oil in the counter balance shaft. I have never done this the 3 years I have owned this boat. The engine was a new crate engine from BRP in 2011.

Motor mounts are hard to see but I will recheck those after work today.

I did notice grease I put in the nipple on the flywheel, a lot dissipated out into the engine bay (messy now)
Could that be related?

Any ideas?

I would drop the pump and pull the shaft, restart the engine and see if the vibe is still there. If so, you know where your problem is, somewhere with the engine or mounts. As far as the mounts. Just grab the main exhaust pipe and pull up towards the front and both back sides and see if the mount separates from the rubber isolater. If the mounts check out, it could be sad news for the engine.

I will try those things tonight.
I did a compression test, 130 a side, plugs are perfect in colour. I did have the pump off and everything looked and felt fine. Bearing smooth, impeller fine. Before I called it a day, I put it back in the water, drove it for about 5 minutes, and towards the end I went WOT, still hit just over 7000 rpm and 50 mph on the gauge. Hopefully its not the engine as it feels like it still has all the power.
