My 2006 sportster 215 SCIC blew....with 80 hours. I was cruzn along and the motor started to rap.I been told that this motor is bulletproof, and the dealer has never seen such a failure. Any suggustions....how much for a new motor?
Thanks!

did your supercharger bearing give way? usually we rebuild the superchargers every 100 hours or 2 years.. and the 06 motors still had the ceramic washers inside..

your looking at around 2200-3000 for a new block.. and i would say around 4-5000 for a complete brand new motor

Matty,
Supercharger was ok, rap sounded like it was coming from the top end. I got a estimate of 6K installed and with new supercharger & gasket kit.

Sounds like you had the infamous valve drop if it came from the top end. $6000 for parts and labor doesn't sound too bad. You can save a lot of money if you do the work yourself. It is easier on the boats then the skis. You have more room to work with.

If you're in Boston or closer to NH give me a shout, I'm willing to come check it out for you. If you would like to save quite a bit of money then I'm interested in doing the job, but it would be a fall project for me.. In the middle of moving so I'm quite busy until the end of August. My shop is at my fathers in Tyngsborough, MA so tools and space aren't being affected by the move.
