I recently purchased a 2005 Seadoo Sportster 4Tec SCIC.
I also have a 2005 Seadoo Sportster 4Tec.
I purchased the supercharged version to gain some speed and performance.
The boat has 98 hours on it and I ask the prior owner if he had ever replaced the washers in the super charger and he said no.
That being said I brought the boat to a Seadoo dealer and service center.
Prior to bringing the boat to the Seadoo dealer for service I rand the boat a few times and it ran fine hitting 8000 RPM.
So I tool the boat in for service and I had the supercharger rebuilt with a seaddo kit number 420881101. I am not sure id this kit has the all metal washers or if they are metal with ceramic coating?
Also, they changed the oil, spark plugs and greased the jet pump.
So I picked up the boat took it for a test run and I could not achieve 8000 RPM's.
The RPM's will only go to 7700 and I do not hear that whistling type noise I heard before.
I called the Seadoo dealer and explained this to them and that I was concerned the supercharger was not functioning properly.
So I took the boat back and they said the supercharger was functioning properly and they ran a compression test on the engine and it was achieving the correct 150lbs of pressure from each cylinder.
I had been also talking to Pete at Riva because I was looking to buy a performance air filter kit and told him about the symptons and he said to check the oil level first. Also that they should have checked the roll off torque from the supercharger to properly evaluate if it is functioning correctly.
I asked the dealer if he checked the roll off torque on the supercharger and he said no that they had talked to Seadoo and something about putting there hand on a house and it would not fill with air if her supercharger was not working. They also advised that the Seadoo advised them that the supercharger may take a little time to break in and that may be why I am not getting 8000 RPM.
So I ran the boat again and still the same problem only about 7700 RPM. Also, after running it for awhile and going slowly back to the dock I noticed a smell of oil burning and a bit of white smoke that seemed to only last about a couple minutes.
So when i got back to the dock shut the engine off and loaded it onto the trailer I then checked the oil. The oil level was high. It was about an inch and a half above the notched area on the dip stick. My Manuel says it should be in the center of this notched area.
So I called the dealer back and explained this to them and they explained that I need to follow the procedures in the Manuel to check the oil. So I checked the oil yesterday following the procedures in the Manuel. Started the boat for 30 seconds and let it sit for 30 seconds and checked the oil. I got the same result with the oil level about an inch and a half over the notched area.
So then I was reading my receipt a bit closer and noticed the type of oil stated on the receipt. It says that 4 quarts of Huile 4T Baril *Oil 4T Drum Synthetic 5w40 was used.
So i need to call the dealer back tomorrow and not to sure were to go with this.
1.) Is the supercharger kit they used ok? Is this kit the metal washers or the metal with ceramic coating?
2.) Is the oil they put in the boat correct being synthetic?
3.) Is the oil level being high a concern and if so should I just suck some out?
4.) Could the supercharger have a problem? Why do I not hear the whistling noise as I did in the past?
5.) Why am I now only hitting 7700 RPM's and is there a break in period for a rebuilt supercharger?
Basically what what should i do ?
