On going intermittent issue..................... any help advise really appreciated.

my boat keeps going into Limp mode, 5000rpm.

new key this spring from dealer. Boat worked great first few times, then intermittent afterwards.

seemed like battery low voltage, brand new battery fully charged and now it's not intermittent????

checked and changed all fuses I could find. Impellor and wear ring all good. Voltage 13.3 when running at rpm

start up with 2 beeps, no issues, hit the gas = 6700 rpm, gets up on the plane, one long beep, then misses, sputters and goes into limp mode. shut it down. start again and it does the same every time. IN limp mode I get one long beep every 60 seconds. no other beeps.

5 presses to the red starter to enter advanced diagnostic mode gives me one very short and one long, attach lanyard and NO BEEPS at all. I have unplugged/replugged every electrical connector.

Where and what does the MPEM look like? last year the shop said they could not get an reading of any faults or any HOurs on the engive.

The Dess lanyard post?? easy to replace?

Sounds like low voltage is being tripped. I had similar issue. Starts idles perfect. Hit the gas, engine revs up no problem, get on plane, then mpem beeps goes into limp mode.
My tests with the voltage regulator seemed to be positive, but then noticed the voltage reg would all of a sudden drop voltage, then come back to 14 v.
Once i changed that part i have not had the issue since.

beardo76, looks like your right and I had another issue. Shop busy until mid September but was able to get them to
cleared all codes at the shop (100.00 with new key). tested on water, exact same problem. back to shop to read new codes.

4-exhaust gas sensor
2-low voltage
1-very low voltage
2-starter rely faults

Shop guy recommended to put in new exhaust gas sensor, purchased and installed. put boat in water and she ran perfect, normal. Yippy!

Got home and tested battery and it was low? No Yippy this time. brand new battery last week

So should I just go ahead and change the regulator/rectifier (are they the same unit?)?

Where do I find the magneto/stator?

what would be the correct testing procedures? Purchasing a good digital volt meter today.

Any advice, help is very much appreciated.

Its a stator, and its deep inside the crank case by the flywheel. You will see 3 yellow wires coming out of the crank case, thats from the stator.

Thanks, I thought so.

just put it in the water and tested voltage at battery terminals, 12.8 not running, 12.6 with it at 4000rpm.

Gonna change the regulator and all fuses. not much else I can do.

Thanks again for the advice.

changed Regulator/Rectifier, 13.8 - 14.0 running at 4000rpm

Gotta get me one of those Buds set ups

I agree, i have researched and found this as the cheapest to Buds.

its good for diagnostics, resetting tps etc, but you cannot flash your mpem via this tool.
399.99 for the unit, 5 vehicle license Skidoo, Seadoo etc. You may need an adapter for an extra 99 bucks..
Considering it cost average 150 bucks plus 4-5 days of time before you can get a BRP tech to diagnose (at least in my area) It might be worth the investment. I also have a skidoo mach z and mxzx that i could totally use this on too.
