Wondering if someone can help me with a issue I'm having with the sump pump. The pump seems to come on every five minutes with main battery switch turned off. Checked the floor where the pump is mounted and only has no more than 1/8" of water on the floor. Looked around for a float switch, but no luck finding it.

Any ideas why this pump won't stop or where the float switch is?

My bilge pump has an internal float, pop the cover off and look for something that may be causing the float to stick. Mine was having trouble pumping earlier this season and i found the screen in the bottom completely covered in miscellaneous debris and crud.

Thanks for your response mnoble.

I popped off the cover and found it was clean. I did a little more research and found out the pump has a solid state float that detects the water. So I'm thinking there must be a little water or moisture stuck inside that triggers the pump or it just defective.

It's funny how it only comes on every 5 minutes for just a second. But if there is actually water in the bilge, then it will stay on until it's empty. Then it starts the 5 minute cycle again. Seems to be working fine, just a little annoying that it comes on every 5 minutes.

I may just disconnect the power wire when the boat is not being used for a long period of time to save the battery.
