I think my bilge pump has gone bad in my 2004 Islandia. Looking for recommendations on what new pump I should buy and where to get it. How difficult is installation of a new pump? What is a good price if I have a dealer do it? Any other info I should be thinking about.

I priced a pump when mine stopped working. After pulling it out, I realize it was just clogged up with crap and once cleaned worked fine.

What I did find out was that the Seadoo part was over $100 if not over $170. These are not special pumps. Most any 12v bilge pump would work and could be wired in. They usually have a base pop riveted to the hull and the pump snaps into it.

Your best bet is to pull the pump off the base, clean it and get 12v to it directly to be sure the pump has failed. If it has, you may be able to find a generic pump that could fit into the base already installed in your boat. If not, replace both pieces.

A local sporting goods or boating store should have some on hand. Otherwise, west marine, Cabelas, etc may sell a pump in the $25-$50 range.

Good luck
