2003 Utopia 205

Sucked up something over the weekend going from boat trailer to my dock. Called insurance and waiting to hear from them. Looking for a place to take it in to get it looked at. It ran fine the weekend before. Then I sucked something up as I could feel restriction on propulsion. Then started hearing a grinding and motor locked up or maybe impeller. Looked under after I got it out but nothing in the impeller. I'm in Indianapolis Indiana area. Can travel to Cincinnati or Louisville is needed!

Hey there fellow Utopia owner. I've got a 2004 Utopia 185 located in Louisville. Owned the boat since 2007 and have had this happen 4 times. Anything from a rope in impeller to a small stick you would think the impeller would tear through. One time it cleared itself im guessing as I trailered it out of the water.

Never had grinding or motor lock up though. I'd check the impelller again with a flashlight to make sure. If nothing is found I would try it again at your local lake. It might have cleared itself upon trailering out. Good Luck Dude

Welcome! We take rides from our place to Louisville and back sometimes. We are just east of Madison.

I have had things get stuck and removed. The boat would run fine after that.

This time was not the case. It had a small stick stuck, heard grinding. Then it was a little louder and the motor shut off. It's locked up. I'm guessing bearing in jet pump maybe?
