2003 gtx 4tec sc 148 hrs. Background... new jet ski owner. Ran good last season. Sat on trailer all winter in mild south Florida climate. Did not know to crank motor after each outing to purge water from motor. So must have sat all winter (non freezing) with water in engine. Nonetheless, first ride or two of this season it ran fine. Last ride I had issues with reverse cable but breaking and made it back to dock to find bottom of hull filled with water from the broken nut. Not enough that would appear to submerge any part of the engine. Got it on lift drained water. Felt the need to check oil. Was milky. Did compression check. 135-145 all cylinders. Replaced the reverse cable and steering cable nuts with aluminum ones. Did 3 oil chgs with cheap 10w40 Walmart oil to remove water. Finally refilled with the synthetic oil. Everything looked good. Test ride lacked original power supercharger seemed to stall and hole shot not like it was. Docked it. Next day went out to test drive again. First checked oil and hull and all looked good. Same performance on test drive. Back at dock hull was full of water/oil. Dipstick showed all oil drained from crankcase. It was all in the hull. Cannot locate anything that appears to be leaking. Where do I stand? What should I look for? From posts I've read of similar situations I'm thinking oil cooler.

Oil cooler(especially in salt water environment) and rear driveshaft seal are the most common oil leaks. Clean it up good and then put paper towels down under the motor. Oil leaks are pretty easy to find.

Thanks. This is a lake freshwater environment. And will it be necessary to remove the engine? It is incredibly tight in there. Though I read if the intake manifold is removed it's much easier to access the cooler. Any links or online content that may cover these inspections/fixes?

Engine does not need to be removed for either repair and both are pretty straight forward and simple.

For oil cooler replacement, the intake manifold should be removed which is only 7 bolts and a couple clamps and takes about 10-15 minutes. Very simple to change oil cooler after that.

Not aware of any online tutorials but have done it many times and is not difficult.

Oh good. I'll get at it and post specific questions if necessary. Man if I only had a pic of that manifold and the 7 bolts.
