Our seadoo shuts down after about a half hour or more of running. the error code is p0351. The problem has persisted since last year and is very frustrating. The dealer replaced the ignition coils last year, but the problem returned and I wasn't able to get it back to them before winter. I checked the fuses, all are ok and clean - no corrosion. Wiring appears to be ok for as much as can be seen outside of the loom/tape. It will start and run for a few seconds and then shut down again. Have done this over and over to get it out of channel/to a safe location to get it towed back in. During the season at the end of last year it would work fine some days, and then act up on others. First time out this weekend ended in same unpredictable result with a shutdown/tow-in.

When restarted, it seems to idle smooth till it shuts down again. Doesn't seem to miss like a coil is bad or not firing. And it will immediately restart after a shutdown.

I also replaced the oil sensors last year to eliminate that issue, though I didn't know about the codes at that time.

If it is as artur suggested, check the plug and see if it is good. Actually, why not change all the plugs at the same time. Next, swap the coils and see if the problem moves or stays.

Tough part is that it runs great at first, for a while..probably 1/2 hr, then shuts down. I changed the plugs, they looked good/even in color - not white or oily. Moved the #1 coil to #2, but couldn't run it long enough in the driveway....late at night and disturbing to the neighbors... It won't fail under those conditions. Needs to be good and hot. when it starts for a few seconds after failure, it sounds normal - no miss but shuts down almost immediately. Seems like something is getting hot (kind of like a coil on an old car) then it quits without warning.

Going to take it to a dealer and put it on buds....again. Been to one 2x already. But that dealer isn't a dealer this year..how convenient. Maybe the next will be better.. Will probably run it again this weekend to see if the failure code moves with the coil.

You might have to take it on the lake and see what happens. Even if you bring it to a dealership, if they don't have a tank, they might not be able to run it out of water long enough to make it fail

Did u try change coil for new or good from different ski? Don't lose time take to the dealer, try first change your self, buy some use one or new and just change it. If u don't want put any money run ski after gets worm up and shut off check resistance on coil, check with manual how much have to be if this is no coil then problyby MPEM . Make sure if the spark plugs have good space.

Replaced all coils, ran fine for a couple of weeks, then shut down near the end of the season. Ran it this spring and came up with the P0351 code after a shutdown. Changed plugs (and gapped them) and exchanged coil 1 with 2 but couldn't run it long enough to get it to fail. It is at dealer for eval and run in tank. We'll see what they come up with. My suspicion is MPEM also.

How long did you run it for?

Dealer finally got it to fail and called BRP tech to discuss. Error indicated that all coils were bad... but they are all new. Same message that occurred before the last dealer replaced the coils.. MPEM checked out fine, and BRP advised that the ECM is bad. $750 for the ECM plus labor to find out what was wrong = $1100. Really feel like I getting hosed now. Is the ECM really that expensive?

Cheapest price is about $565 so it could be right? Question is what they will do to warranty it should the ECM not fix the issue. Also, who diagnosed the coils?

It is a seadoo dealer that diagnosed, a different dealer that replaced the coils earlier (they dropped their dealership over the fall/winter - so they wont stand behind their work). The dealer working on it now didnt' believe the code that showed all 3 coils were bad and ran other tests while working with BRP tech support. They told me that if the ECM replacement doesn't fix it, they will put the old one back in and continue testing/diagnosis. I'll want a long warranty - at least a year, because it takes a long time to figure out if the problem still exists.

Not sure why it should matter. They were a BRP dealership at the time. BRP should be able to push them.

If they will offer this, I suppose it can't be that bad

replaced ECM seems to have fixed the problem...for now. Hopefully, it won't fail again. They ran it in the tank at idle for over 2 hours to find the problem in the first place. Then after replacing the ECM they ran it at idle for around 4 hours... We ran it hard and slow/idle this past weekend. No problems.
