Ok so the Battery has 12.6 before start.

After start goes down to 12.4 (Both Engines)

Replaced one rectifier no change.
Here are my questions

1. What is the normal charging VDC at what RPM I am assuming around 13.4)

2. Do both engines need to be running to get this voltage or will it charge on one?

3. Any one else have this problem?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

1) you should see 13.5v to 14.5v at 4000 RPM.

2) No... but they have separate charging systems.

3) Yes. Every year we see this kind of post.

Since you replaced the regulator... have you checked over the fuses? Since you aren't charging with other engine... I'd say you have a bad connection somewhere, or a blown fuse.

Ok just to verify, I can have one engine running and see 13.4 vdc at the battery correct?

I only replaced on rectifier on one engine. Should I do both?

Thanks for the help. Big time!

Ill be checking fuses today

Yes, either engine SHOULD charge the battery. So maybe one went bad some time ago and you wouldn't know it as you still were charging the battery.

At first I was thinking the one you removed would be good and you simply choose the wrong one to change. However, that isn't the case as either/both will charge the battery.

Yea I started both engines after I put the new rectifier on and still nothing so I put the one that I replaced on the other side.. still no effect

Did you buy a used, or aftermarket regulator?? I've seen, in more than on occasion... bad aftermarket regulators that were "new".

But... like I said... check your fuses.

What I was saying us,,,

One went bad some months ago for whatever reason. Still charged as you had the other engine doing so.

Then the second went bad and you got a no charge condition.

If the one you removed was bad and you our it in the other engine it is still bad.

This would mean the replacement is bad even though it is new, assuming you bought a new one.

Though this is not likely, just pointing out a potential solution.
