Just purchased a 2002 utopia 205 and on the driver side of the mercury v6 engine there is about 5-6 single connections just not plugged into anything, a few look like they are capped but one isnt. Any idea what these might be

There are a few orphan wires over there. There are 2 alternator windings for 2 regulators. Each reg. has input (yellow) wires and 2 red (I think) output wires and a gray tach signal wire. You only use one of the grays. I think there is a black from each reg. to ground. There are 2 other orphans that I don't remember their colors.

Tim thanks for the reply, i have one more concern. the oil line from the oil container to the reservoir?
has a tee fitting but doesnt go anywhere?? should it be removed or capped? thanks

It's a vent/check valve. It does not get connected to anything else.
I have the same fitting (different location) on my 2001 engine.

Tim last question :) on the driver side there is 2 small black wires floating around, do you know where they would go?

on the passeger side, i found another wire just floating around not mated to anything, any idea? thanks Tim!!! trying to get this boat safe before the 4th of July :)

Your engine is slightly different than mine. As I said, there are some orphan wires on these engines. In pic 1, that is about the same location as my orphan wires. In pic 2, those look like they come from temp sensor. Mine has 3 wires to the sensor. Could you have a wire buried in the bunch? I do not have a wire diagram for your engine.

Thx Tim in pic 1 i have 2 small black wires shown that look like they might have been connected to the grounding bold. Just wanted to confirm they were grounds. Hard to find the wiring diagrams on these engines

This looks like the Head Temperature sensor. The Tan/blue wire is to be connected to temperature gauge if you have one. A snapshot of the wiring scheme is attached
