Purchased ski about 1 month ago, used. Friend was driving ski and said it spit sputtered like it was out of gas and stopped inthe middle of the lake. When tried to restart, it just clicked. Took head off and one piston was completely fried, cracked, broken into numerous pieces. Jug is broken, head cracked, but can weld to repair. Needs a complete engine rebuild? Or just put in a new motor? What would the cost be for both and what would have caused this. Ran great for three hours prior to doing this. Please help. :(:mad::puke:

blown motor

if the ski oil mixture was not adjusted properly it could have burnt blew the piston,or the piston clearance was out of specs it would cause the piston rings to catch an exhaust port and break, these are the most common. Did you check compression before taking the ski out?? the only way to repair the engine is to pull both cyliders off, machine the cylinders and replace the pistons and rings as a kit. if you havent done this before you can purchase a top end kit from SBT. here's the web site. http://www.sbtontheweb.com/index.htm

Good luck Dean
