Hey guys,

I’m hoping I can get some help with an issue I’m having. I have a 2002 Islandia with a Mercury engine. I’m not getting the usual automatic thrust when I turn the steering wheel to full lock. So pretty much I have no steeering at slow speeds. What activates that thrust? Where’s a good place to start looking? It was working fine earlier in the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Im not sure. Can you tell from the serial number OE406410

Well... OE406410 makes it a Gen2 engine.

In this case... the throttle adding system is electronic. Up by your steering gear... there is a switch and a magnet. Make sure they are clean, and still in place. Sometimes you cat something stuck to the magnet, and it looses it's ability to sense it properly.
