Just curious if anyone else has had the same problem. I took it to the dealership and they said that is what they do and to not let it idle by turning it off. That's kinda a pain in the butt so I would like to fix it. If I let it idle over 1 minute, and then gas it, it will bog really bad for about 10-20 seconds and then clear out, blow out a bunch of smoke, and run great. It's really embarrasing putting it on the trailer as it is smoking bad after letting it idle. I put new plugs in it, fuel filter, and use the mercury oil that it recommends. It has the 240 hp Mercury EFI engine. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Oil injection....

James, your problem sounds like it may be associated with the oil injection system. Your statements about idling and then going into the throttle, sound like the oil pump has quit working on a "variable rate injection". Which means, oil is injected at different ratios with different throttle responses.

If your at idle and the oil injection system is set a hair to much, then you have oil building in the casing that isn't being burned until you increase the throttle...........so...........

Go over all that you can in the area of the oil pump. Learn how that works and if possible, how it's set up to work with the EFI.
