I bought this boat a couple weeks ago. One of the things I found reading posts on this site was that the type of oil that should only be used according to the service manuals is the XPS2 synthetic (or equivalent), I have the 941. I also saw many warnings about mixing different types of oil in the injector.
My boat was converted to pre mix when I bought it (previous owner says the rebuilt motor has 30hrs). The type of oil he was using was NOT the XPS2.
I still have half a tank of fuel in the boat and I did pick up a jug of XPS2 for future use. Question is... What do I do in order to get to running pre mix with the XPS2? Should I use up what I have (unknown oil), on another ride, suck out the remaining fuel and then refill with fresh gas and XPS2? Or is it safe to just add the new XPS2 pre mix to my tank now? Or should I drain a half tank of fuel and then start with the new mix to be uber safe.
Don't want to get into the XPS2 (or equivalent) debate. Just want to know if the same warning for mixing different types of oil still hold true when pre mixing different oils.
Also should only marine gas be used on this motor? Book just says unleaded.
