Motor will not turn over. Need a starting point to begin tracing wires

First check that your battery polarity is correct and charged.

If you still have the original starter solenoid, it is suspect. They do fail.

Check ground wire at starter. Check all bolts for starter. Can you jumper directly to starter PLUS?
The starters can fail, too.

Is the engine free to rotate? Use a socket on the flywheel nut,

Is the key switch functional?
