Hey folks, I am new to the forum. thanks for the warm welcome. Now for my trouble. The wife and I were out on Lake Norman yesterday and while up on plane and moving quite well, the engine suddenly just lost all power. I immediately put it into neutral and gunned it a bit and it restarted. We rode for another hour and it happened again. This time it would not stay running. When I tried to restart it, I got a HI Temp reading and then it switched to Maint. There was no beeps or lights on the dash. Now when I try to start it, I clunks one time and then nothing but the HI Temp reading. It has a new battery and plugs. Does anyone have any advise??? thanks in advance.

PS. My wife and I had to swim and push the ski for about 250 yards. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I did get it back to my slip with some help of a pontoon that came later.

hi temp

See if you can turn the engine over with the spark plugs removed and the plug leads on the grounding posts.

I had that happen to me with my o3 gtx, what my issue was that the radiator had came loose from its bracket and lost some coolent..after I filled the radiator back up and attached it back in the mounting brackets it was fine...and be sure to pull the plugs and turn the engine over to get any water out of the motor if you was towed in...

2001 GTX RFI engine froze up

Well I took my ski in and the mechanic called and told me that the drive or engine has siezed. He said it would be cheaper if it was a frozen drive shaft. But if it is the engine, it would be $2800 for a new engine. He told me that the ski was worth around $4K. I told him that I did not want to spend that much and if he would consider buying it. He said he would only give $500 for it the way it was. Any ideas what I should do???
