Hi,

I Bought An 01 Gtx Which Is Not Fuel Injected From A Good Friend Of Mine In January. It Sat Up For A Year And Was Hard To Start But Did End Up Starting And Started Everytime. When I Got It In The Water For The 1st Time Again Took A Little While To Start But When Started It Idled Fine. When Opening Up The Throttle For The 1st Time, It Quickly Stalled. I Restarted And The Same Thing Happend But Idled Fine. So Another Attempt I Pulled The Choke In Some And It Took Off Quickly And I Let The Choke All The Way Out And Ran Fine For A Min Then Stalled When I Was Running It Fast. It Started Right Back Up And I Pulled The Choke Again And It Took Off Then Died A Min Later. Got It Back On The Trailer Because It Started Raining. Took It Out Again On A Better Day, Slow To Start But Ran Good The Whole Day, Didn't Die Until I Put A 3rd Person On And Opened It Up. Pulled The Choke And It Would Take Off Then Die. Had To Idle The Entire Way Back With The Maintence Light On This Time, And Low Fuel Light (which Stays On Now). Went Home Changed The Plugs And Fuel Filter. This Time A Little Easier To Start But Same Thing, Had To Put It On The Trailer Right Away. The Ski Has 26 Hrs On It Total Time Since New. I've Got A Good Amount Of Experience With 2 Stroke Engines And To Me This Seems Like The Carb Is Dirty Or Possible Stuck Floats. Im Debating On Taking It In The Shop Since Im Not Experienced With Seadoos, And That The Fuel Guage Shows Low Fuel Even When Full. Also at Idle, it shows 2200 Rpms, something isn't right. What Would I Be Looking Into If I Attempted It? Any Idea Of What The Cost Would Be From A Seadoo Dealer?? Any Help Will Be Greatly Appreciated! Thanks A Lot!

dirty carbs

It's been sitting a year.. so.. with these things you need to :

1. Clean the carbs.

2. Replace all your fuel lines with the ones that don't deteriorate over time.

3. Remove and clean the fuel tank also freeing up the fuel float lever to stop the low fuel light coming on.

4. Change the plugs and ALL filters.

5. Cross fingers .. ( This is a very important part of the maintainence proceedure )

You can do all this yourself on a day off and it's not hard at all once you know how. Let us know how you went.

As the fuel ages, it varnishes the carb body and also deteriorates the grey fuel hose from the inside out. These two factors will clog the internal filters to the carbs and make the fuel valve sticky. Then you have problems with it running fine out of water, but cannot get revs in the water.
