Please help! July 4th wekend is coming soon!!

I have a 2000 XP and it has been running fine until Last weekend when it started dropping RPM gaing RPM, and continuing this cycle even at W.O.T.

I have cleaned RAVE Valves, changed spark plugs, cleaned fuel filter, and added high- 93 octane gas, and it is still doing the RPM drop-gain.

I start out fast then it just bogs down and losses power then gains power/RPMs for a sec. then drops again.

Could it be the carb???

I am planning on changing out the gray fuel lines once I get the XP back running right just to help.

Please give me some helpful suggestions! I don't want to be broke down July 4th weekend!!

Thank you! Greg

It sounds like you need to remove the carburetors and clean them. If you're careful and don't tear or damage the diaphragms you won't need to buy a rebuild kit. Pay attention to the internal filters too. If you have gray fuel lines you need to replace them with black fuel lines available from auto parts stores like Auto Zone. Measure the length you need and bring a sample with you so you get the correct size. Replace one at a time so you don’t get them mixed up. If you need clamps replace them too. Use small stainless steel clamps also from the auto parts store. Running 93 octane wil do nothing...its made to run on 87 octane. Don't waste your money.

Can someone please tell me how to get to the carb so that I can clean it.

This is my ski's engine compartment, but I don't know how to get to the carb.

Carbs......

The carbs are on the opposite side of these pictures. The round things with the red caps are your RAVE valves.

On the opposite side, you'll see a big black plastic box. This is your air box.

Now, without sounding rude, if you have to ask where they are, you should not attempt to remove them for cleaning and inspection.

I am familiar with Carbs, and on the mech side I have 12 years as an U.S. Army Apache Mech. .

I have never tried going into onre of these engines, or engine bays, I just want to know from others with experience what the quickest, and best way to get to the carbs without disconnecting or fumbling with unnecessary tubes/bots, etc.

I assume I need to get to the airbox, but space is limited and I would like to know the best way to get to the carbs.

Thanks! Greg

Greg, Seadoosnipe is corrrect that under the black air box you'll find your carbs. Do you have a seadoo shop manual? If not here’s an idea for you. You could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and private use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too.
