Hello, boat has sat for a bit in the water, heavy rains so bilge has been running, also I think I may have a draw on the battery, if I don’t start it and run it every second day, I have to hook up a charger to get it to turn over. Question is, how long of a run at say half throttle would it take to keep the battery charged up? Battery is 2 yrs old.

You have a 40a charging system... assuming it's running correctly. So... above 3000 rpm... you should be able to charge the battery in an hour or two. But if it's not a DM type battery... it's not going to like being drained that hard. If you are keeping the boat in the water... you really should consider a second battery, and make it a deep cycle to run your pump properly.

In your current situation... I would hook it to a 10a to 15a charger, and let it cook for 4 or 5 hrs each time.

I upgraded to a dual battery setup using a pair of Optima deep cycle batteries.
I also installed a NOCO battery tender to keep them charged. See attached.
Reasonably priced and will monitor each battery independently and go into standby when batteries are charged.
It is designed for marine use and is waterproof. Added the 110V plug option to it so I just have to bring an extension cord to the boat.
