Hello all,

I recently decided to get my boat for Spring. I turned on the bilge pump and pop fuse blew, and realized the wiring was shot. I went ahead and ran new wiring and its working like a charm. I wired the pump up to my led light switch that I put on last summer. I am wanting to wire up the Bilge pump to the Bilge pump switch that I was previously using. What am I interested in finding out is which wire should I splice into in the back of the rocker switch. I was hoping to just cut the wire and hook it in that way without having to deal with taking it out. I am pretty sure its one of the grey wires but was unable to narrow it down. Does anyone know which wire is the accessory wire on the back of the switches? I have looked everywhere and can't find a diagram. Any help would be appreciated.

Test it for voltage. When the switch is flipped both will be 12 volts. When switch is off, jus the power leg will have 12 volts. You will want the dead leg.

Yes, go to your local auto parts store and get a 12v test light, they come to a shap point that you poke thru the wire insulation. If the wiring is shot it what ever you really should find out if it's rubbed thru and shorted. If that is, others could be close behind. Just a disaster waiting to happen, either stuck on the water in a dead boat or worse a fire.
