2000 Sea Doo Challenger (Twin 717s) Vibration/hesitation and draining issue

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a chance to get out on the water this past weekend. I picked up a 2000 Sea Doo Challenger with the twin 717s in Connecticut over the weekend. The boat is mint!

Two issues I came across yesterday with was:

First and foremost, the boat was winterized by the previous owner. He winterized it yearly since 2007 on his own by following the manual. It first started up for the season when I showed up to bring it for a test drive on Saturday. The tank was approx half full with last year's 87 fuel and then he topped it off with 93 fuel. The port engine purrs like a kitten.

1) The starboard side engine has an aggressive vibration at low idle. It has a bit of a hesitation when accelerating, but once it gets over 3,000 rpm, it takes right off. Occasionally at mid range RPM, around 5000, it will "cough" and then clear up and keep going. The motor has a compression as follows: Rear 139, Front 135. I ordered new spark plugs and should receive them in a few days. Not sure if that would be the problem or not. My suspicion is that it's carb related. ((I did pull on the motor to verify that it wasn't an engine mount))

2) The deck drain doesn't seem to drain all, or unless it's my imagination, it is letting a small amount of water back in (less than one gallon).... Thoughts? I'd hate to do the legendary submarine move and end up not draining the water...

Oh, not so much of an issue, but as a question about where to get something...One of the plastic lenses that cover one of the tach gauges is missing. Can I get just the cap or do I need to order an entirely new gauge?

Thanks again!

1. could be anything but I would start with by cleaning the carb. It might be coming apart and needs replacing though...the motor.

2. Its prob jammed up with crap. Take the one way valve off the back of the boat, it should be a ball setup. if it has a rubber flapper you need to order the update kit. Anyways get it off and shoot water thru it with a hose. Leaves and crap get up in there.

3. replace the tach.

I have an appointment made to have the carburetors rebuilt on that motor. $250 for both doesn't seem like a bad deal.

Today I installed new spark plugs on both engines. The hesitation/coughing went away but there is still a vibration. Could this still be a result of carburetors needing to be rebuilt?

Good on you for changing the spark plugs first. I'm inclined to agree the carbs may need some intensive care.
If you think the vibration is b/c one cylinder isn't firing, you can confirm which it is b/c that plug will not be warm to the touch after running, it will be cold. Alternatively, you can probably tell by just removing the plug and looking at it since it's new, a normal looking plug will have a cardboard brown ceramic insulator around the center electrode. If one cylinder is misfiring, it's probably a dry carb due to gumming from fuel varnish and trash in the (stale)fuel.

Make some pre-mix at 32:1 and put it in a spray bottle, squirt that into the carburetor as the engine is idling and the dry cylinder will fire off that mix. This confirms a dry carburetor that's not fueling, target that carb as the root cause of the misfiring cylinder.

But if one carb is gummed with fuel varnish and trash, the others may not be far behind....

I checked the valve, it has the one with the ball. It seems to let water in when I go in reverse and then the water disappears when I move forward.
