Hey all,

I have a stupid question again :)

I kept my 2000 islandia in the water for a few days, and i realized at the dock when i got on the boat it would kick the bilge pump on and pump out water. i know this is from the water shifting from my weight on the back of the boat. but it seemed like quite a bit of water. I didnt think much of it as i thought maybe from rain or something. The boat was out of the water that day and back on the trailer anyway.

Then before i put the boat in the water again, i had the plugs open, and i positioned the boat on a hill with the bow up to make sure there is no water in there. I put the boat in on saturday morning, and pulled it sunday afternoon. we used it both days. When i pulled the boat and driving up the ramp, the bilge came on again. and pumped out prob 2-3 gallons of water.

Im wondering if my boat is leaking and my bilge is coming on every few hours and pumping while at the dock.

Also has anyone had issues maybe the fresh water tank leaking?

Has anyone had issues with plugs? I have inspected the hull and i dont see anything that would looks to me like it would cause a problem.

any recommendations on how to trouble shoot this or what to look for?

Thanks
Dave

What engine?
I say this because my 2002 engine - 250 Opti - had an issue. The exhaust from the back of the engine comes down an inverted "V" plenum to the two exhausts. The stbd hose was chaffed thru on the back when i got it - couldnt see it, but water/exhaust went into the eng compartment.
Went thru a new $80 hose in a week. Now i have a rigged setup without leaks.
In idle, feel behind the hoses - the exhaust is not hot as it is mixed with water.

BTW - the 2003 model had a design change that fixed the chaffing hoses.

its a 240 efi merc, i will have to get in there and look at that stuff, i wont be back to the boat till the weekend.

would there be any seal when the jet drive is to check?

Thanks
