I am new to this site, please help. just got the news from my seadoo dealer
that my seadoo, needs $3500 worth of work to run again. I paid $5000 for it.
dealer is saying engine is totaly gone, also the lower part of the motor is gone, rod is broken off and pierced something.I like to know the seadoo worth not more than $3000 with the trailer if I fix it. any one think it can be fixed for less, or better just selling it for $500 and forget about it. the seadoo had only 25 hours on it. it was not used, and dealer said that's why it broke, because not used very much. I live in wisconsin and use it perhaps 4 t 5 times a year. I trly appreciate your comment.

go get it alex, inspect it yourself, see if, what the dealer is say'n is true..hole in case...then go from there, contact SBT, let them know, whats up, and/or, bomb around ebay for something..$3500, no f-in way.

That's a bunch of cock-a-rock if you know whit I mean. It sounds like the dealer is trying to make some big labor dollars. Go get it, you could get it running cheaper than that if you want to do some work on it yourself.

dealer has the engine completely removed and it is in a box. I have no idea how to put it back together and even if I can put it back together, i don't know how to get it running again. It is a complicated motor, if you don't know what you are doing.

If the rod is broke off as you posted in your first post, then there's nothing to reassemble. Go to" www.sbtontheweb.com " and get a price quote. Install the new rebuilt engine assy. and your ready to go. Look at all the options first, before you get scared away...

Where in WI and who is the dealer? I might know someone who will fix it for you reasonably.

I live in green bay, wisconsin. I just picked it up.dealer suppose to be very reputable, inside of my seadoo is completely gutted.I don't know if he had to take everything apart, I mean every single thing including the propeler. They
put everything, I hope, in a box and charged me $75 for the estimate.
they say I need
1 cylinder head silver 947 $390
1 cylinder head gasket $38
2 exhaust manifold gasket $20
1 reed valve assembly $117
1 short block 947 $1519
2 fuel filter $27
1 pump oil $9
1 filter oil $11
1 ring-o nitrile $8
1 engine core $700

install short block $425
clean carbs $37
change pump oil $30

shop supllies $35
tax $169

total $3535

I called sbt they tell me if the lower block is pierced by the rod and need to be welded it is almost useless or it cost $800 more.

can some one tell me is seadoo 951 silver standard engine the same as the 947.because that's what sbt has. thank you again alex

white vs. silver...

quote.......

Basically you can bolt a silver engine into your boat with no modifications. The bolt-on parts that you removed from your white motor, such as flywheels and mag cup and intake and exhaust are all interchangable.

With that said, I highly suggest you upgrade the carbs from your white motor to silver carb specs, remove the hoses and soleniod from the air intake system and from the diaphram covers on the carbs, leaving the holes open to breathe air to the diaphrams and reverse the way the carbs are orientated onto the engine by mounting them so the throttle cable bracket and fuel pump are facing forward.

They increased the main jet size in the carbs by 2.5 points. From 162.5 to 165. They lowered pop off pressures by installing 1.5 needles and seats with a 95 gram spring. Also, be sure it has 82.5 low speed jets in the carbs.

The guy I know is in Madison so unless you want to make a trip here.

BTW, why not change your location to state the town so that if others are nearby they might be able to help?

951 is the 947. At the dealer price, he better be giving you the premium engine and even that he is marking it up. I would think that shops get a break but I might be wrong. You can get the Standard Rebuild for $1195 and the Premium Rebuild for $1495

I am leery when they took everything apart to tell you that unless that is standard practice. I tend to wonder if they did that to force you into their solution.

I was in a similar sitation, although I bought mine dismanted,

My 951 engine is now completly rebuilt with new crank/ rods assy, pistons, seals and gaskets, bottom case welded up beautifully and this has cost me just over £600 about $900 in US.

I know for a fact that it is cheaper in the US sometimes nearly half the price of some places in the UK to buy Seadoo spares, it was only the shipping and then Import tax that stopped me buying what I needed from over the pond.

You should be able to get everythng you need at a good enough price to make it worth your while doing it yourself.

I'm just left with fiddly bits to do, important thing is having all the right tools and right information which I found here.

He already has a silver engine. The white engine only came out in the 97.5 GSX.
