2000 GTX RFI oil pump issue?

Hello, I have two identical skis but the oil pump won't prime on ski 1. I have swapped oil pumps between machines and the pump that doesn't prime on 1 runs fine on 2 and the pump from 2 no longer primes on 1. I have used a large flat blade screw driver to turn the pump coupler on ski 1 and found that it will skip on the crank nut with moderate force. So I pulled the front cover thinking I would find a broken coupler but it appears to be fine. I have already ordered a new coupler but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if it is common? Do the ears on the coupler just get weak over time?

I've tested both pumps using a drill and only minuscule amounts of oil come out of either when I do that. I feel almost no force while doing it, nothing close to what I have to apply to the coupler to get it to skip on the crank. I'm kind of at a loss. If the pumps were good, my intuition says I would get more oil out of them when bench testing, yet they both work just fine on ski 2 but not on ski 1, so my experimentation isn't really netting sensical results. It's my understanding that these pumps virtually never fail.
