I seem to have a leak at the "J" fitting on the bottom of the oil tank. It does not appear to be coming out of either hose so I assume it is the fitting itself. How does the fitting come off? the manual shows a gasket of some sort but the fitting turns and doesnt seem to seal. Do I have to replace this assy or can I use some sort of gasket sealer? Thanks!

It just pushes into the oil tank. Chances are... it's the grommet that has gotten hard, and is leaking.

The grommet is a cheap repair to the leak. Check out our "Parts" link for a price on one.

yes

my '99 did this as well, but i didn't know which part, because I didn't want to take everything apart 2x... so i got a whole tank, sensor, bottom part from a '01 on ebay for like $40...

it was just the red thing on the bottom, the seal / plastic was all bleck... so i put in the new tank, etc...

but yea, its not too hard... just reaching your hands in to undo the oil, then getting the tank out, removing the sensor connector... then redoing oil line, then i added some oil to the tank just in case air got in the line...
