Hi.. Took my ski out for the first time this season, last weekend and the spedo was playing up.
It was working for a few min and then it would just stop as if i was stationary (on both digital and analog)?? Throughout the day they would bounce up to current speed and then nothing??
All the other electric read outs are working fine and the ski is A1

Have checked:
- The small wheel at the rear of the ski is moving freely
- Electrical connection at the rear of the ski

Has anyone else had this problem? Or have any suggestions?

Speed Sensor

Hey TREBORGTX. Welcome to the forum. It's a pretty common problem for the speed sensor to fail. Most of the time it is the sensor and not the gauge.

Checking the speed sensor is pretty simple. You'll need a multimeter and a valve stem tool, wait I'll explain.
Disconnect the speed sensor connector housing
from inside bilge.
Unclip the little tab on the back of the terminal coming from the sensor.
Using the hollow end of a valve stem tool, slide the hollow end over one of the probe of the the PURPLE/YELLOW one, this will push the barbs holding it in and allow it to be removed. Do this for the other one as well (BLACK/ ORANGE) Be real careful not to pull the wire out of the probe.

Reconnect the PURPLE/YELLOW and BLACK/ ORANGE wires in the receptacle housing.

Connect the positive probe of a multimeter tospeed sensor PURPLE/YELLOW wire and the negative probe to speed sensor BLACK/ORANGE
wire.

With the safety lanyard removed, depress the start/ stop button to activate the MPEM timer.
Slowly rotate the paddle wheel. Every 1/8 turn, the observed voltage should fluctuate between 5.5 and 8.5 Vdc.
