1999 speedster sk bow compartment

Hey Guys! Well bought this yesterday and boy does this thing fly! Had a blast with the kids. Have an issue and looking for assistance. The bow hatch will not open. Lift the latch and will not open. Spring not working? Any ideas on how to open would be great!

I just purchased my sk in the past two weeks myself. Mine does the same thing occasionally. I want to find someone who has removed the compartment lid and replaced with a bow seat. However as far as helping you open it, I gave my a good solid jerk and it opened.
