Took the ski out into for an longer than usual ride for this ski. Was out in ocean running it for about 1.5 hours straight where up until this day, would run only about 20-30 minutes then pull up on beach and take a break. Once back into the bay moving at a no-wake speed, I get a high temp alarm so I get it back to ram ad get it home.

At home, hook up the hose and ran it and the two pissers in the rear were shooting out water, but the high temp alarm was still there and it was idling well above the 1500 RPM's that it normally does.

The next day, ran it with a hose again, but no high temp alarm, normal idle speed , and it still pissed out the back from both holes. I ran it on hose for 15 minutes or so with these results.

I have ordered a new temperature sensor, but before i put it in, Id thought I would post here to see if anyone may be able to assist.

Is there always water supposed to come out the pissers when both on the hose and running in the water?

Any help, guidance, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

R/Mike

If you ran it for 15 minutes out of the water you smoked your carbon seal and should replace it.

You should have 1 pisser out the side, the pump and exhaust should also be pumping water out when on the hose. Your hose should be connected the the plastic fitting at the pump with hose threads on it.

It is not uncommon for sand and debris to plug a cooling hose. Flushing on the hose actually back flushes the system in the opposite of normal flow to help get this stuff out.

Thank you,

It should be coming out of the drain on the right of the pump plate, the pump itself, the side pisser and the exhaust.

Yes, I have two steady streams shooting out about 2-3 feet when engine is running on the hose from those two indicator/tattle tale holes below the tow hook. Is this an indication that I do not have a fouled cooling loop? Appreciate the assist.

Thanks,

R/Mike

No. it only indicates those hoses are free.

I would suggest remove each hose one at a time and blowing compressed air through all of them.

It sure is funny how Seadoo plumbs the same engine's cooling system so many different ways.

Yes it is a bit strange. I intended to do exactly what you just just recommended this evening after work. I can tell by looking at the diagram, that there may still be a blockage in/after the "T" in the upper right hand part of the diagram where heads to the cylinder head, or it could be in the hose that drains the cylinder to the rear of the ski near the jet pump.

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

The 951 has 2 CSI outputs.
The GTX pipes both to the rear.
The XP combines the two, and comes out a single hole on the port side, front.
Don't ask me why, I just work here.

As a follow up to my High Temp issues on the 99 GTX. I took it out yesterday and all was fine until about 1.5 hours of riding it and I got the high temp alarm and the display started he blinking number countdown.

Already put in a new high temp sensor.

Physically cheeked all cooling lines and water spits out the rear of the ski by the tow hook on both the hose, and when in the water while riding.

I am at a loss...can an incorrect fuel mixture cause an engine to run hot?

Guess I limit my rides for less than an hour for the time being.

When I say countdown, my display blinks all 9's, then all 8's , 7's through 1's, then it repeats, along with a high temp indication.

Thanks,

R/Mike

Thanks for replying. I think I may have have found my culprit. I wont know until I remove my compass as explained in this link. I did explain my blinking numbers incorrectly, but this appears to match my symptoms exactly.

I also have a low oil indication along with the high temp indication, but there is no way I should have an oil indication because I run premix and have the sensor bypassed. Prior to going out yesterday, I started it without the plug out, and the oil light blinked, once I inserted my bypass plug (looped wire with a 2 ohm resistor) and the oil light went out and stayed out until the started getting the strange symptoms about 1.5 hours into my ride.

Once I get it out on the water, I will update. I hope it is only the compass failing after extended use. I have seen stranger things dealing with electronics these past 30 years.

Thanks,

R/Mike
