I have a 1999 Seadoo Challenger. Worked great last year, I went to start it for the first time and not 1 but both engines wont turn over. I just get a click or 2 and then nothing.

I bought a new battery (old one was 5 years old), I cleaned the connectors to the battery. Still nothing worked.

I took the spark plugs out and fired over the engine and oil was going everywhere. (I quickly realized I needed a towel to cover the holes) So my question is, is that normal for oil to be in the cylinders and go shooting out everywhere? Can I try to clean out the oil, how long should I have the engine turned over before oil stops shooting out? Is it possible for both engines to do this? My neighbor said the engine is hydrolocked???

Any thoughts?

You probably have leaky crank seals and or leaky RV seals. Over the winter oil seeped into the crankcase and cylinders. You will need to get the oil out by removing the plugs and cranking the engines over in 10 to 15 second bursts with a towel over the plug holes. When you get most of the oil out, put the plugs back in and try to get it to fire. When the engines do start up it will look like a bug fogger for a couple of minutes until the cylinders clear. Then replace the plugs with new ones. You can pinch off the oil lines when the boat is going to sit for more that a couple weeks and basically live with it until the engines finally wear out, or you can pull the engines and rebuild. Personally I would just run it and not worry about it for now.

Pretty much what jhjesse said, but it's not necessarily the crank seals. I think there was a thread in the pwc section where someone had noticed that the leaking part was the bad/leaking oil line ck valves.

Well I was able to get one engine running. I haven't had time to work on the second engine yet but I really appreciate the help!

quick update, I was able to get the 2nd engine to turn over without the plugs in, it finally stopped shooting out oil with the plugs out but the engine still wouldn't turn over with the plugs in. I assumed the battery was dead after turning over both engines several times, I charged the battery since I assumed it was dead and the 2nd engine now wont fire up even without the spark plugs in. Could I have fried the starter on that engine??? (Note the first engine fires up awesome on the same battery)

help!
