I recently received a response to my question from some members about my 1999 GTX LTD about my power problem they thought from what information I had given them I had Carb Idle problem. I adjusted the carbs to run it about 3000 rpms out of water and about 1500 rpms. After that I notice that it wasn't shooting any water out of the rear ports. When hooked up to the hose it shoots water but nothing in the water. Where might I need checking?

Cooling system?.....

From what I think I am reading, you say your not getting any water from the tell-tale while in the water but if you hook it up to the hose and start it, you get water,.......correct?

Does the ski run o.k. in the water outside of the lack of water from the tell-tale line?

The ski runs great out of water when the hose hooked up water come out of all the ports. When in the water it runs like sh*t it will not stay running and no water comes out of the tale ports. Battery die I need to recharge it.

When I put it back together I did have 1mm of clearance. I wonder if it got knocked out of place when I put it in. I will check that. Befor I rebuilt the pump it was doing the same thing as it is doing now.

Running like sh*t?.......

I don't think the word "sh*t" is an adequate example of letting us know what your problem is.........besides, it's a language violation. Please try and be explicit in describing your problems. I understand your frustration.

You have the 951 and from what little information we are getting, it sounds like to me, you either have a carb problem or a problem in your reed valves. You may have a bent reed valve or even a piece of carbon or grit wedged in one.
Your carbs may still not be adjusted correctly, causing the irregular running conditions......trying to tune on the land is all but impossible. You need torque on your impeller to really get a good adjustment.

If you can, get it in the water to adjust the carbs. If your not idling well, try adjusting the two low speed screws. What change you make to one carb, you make to the other carb. See if this helps. Also, if you've had the carbs apart or removed from the ski, you'll need to check that they are syncronized correctly.

Your water from the "tell-tale" may not be present by your running conditions. You need to have the engine running well at 1500 rpm or over before you'll see a nice stream of water coming from the tell tale hole......

Please try and bring in accuracy in your description to get better advice. Avoid using curse words, as they do not give any real description of your problem and no way for us to know what is going on.

Sorry for the usage of a curse word. Didn't notice my usage of it. Everytime I work on the running problem I have it in the water at my moms marina. After I get done working in it is when I run it on land to flush the system that is when it runs its best. When the ski is in the water it runs rough and doesn't stay running. I did adjust the screws at the same time going the same turn everytime. I marked the screws and the how may degrees I turned them. I will check the reed valve I put some thought into that but hoped it wasn't something that I would have to get into.
