1999 GSX wouldnt run right

So i was out today on the ice cube lake erie riding the GSX and XP. well after about 10 mins the GSX ran like crap, wouldnt idle, wouldnt hit top speed, stall constantly, couldnt figure out why. maint light came on alos. tried everything, messed with it, was baffle what happened cause she ran like a champ last night. so after bringing it in rode the xp then trailered um, started the gsx she backfired and threw a fit trying to run..i got home checked plugs they were fouled...so i started it, low and behold the hull filled with smoke..me and my friend eric are like wtf..where is this coming from...little investigation the exhaust hose came off..so my ski was trying to run off CO2 :hurray: not O2....so on the water she was full of smoke and no oxy...i must have busted her loose on the nice 2-4's on the lake today, had some rather hard landings off some waves....just a pre warnign to all lol :cheers:

Exhaust leak....

Great job. Not many members figure that out as fast as you did. This is a big problem with skis. When you develop an exhaust leak, it doesn't take long for the hull to fill with CO2 and choke out the enigne.

On boats, the hull is a lot larger so it's not as common. Fix your leak and you should be good to go!..................congrats on the prognosis.

well she was little worse then a leak snipe lol. the black 2-3" hose that connects to the resonator was completly off, no smoke out backend all in hull..tis no wonder she was dying on the water. i hit rather hard today so something must have knocked it off. i was :rant: on water im like ive rode it a half hour now she wont run and main light is on..and i just bought it ahhh..but once i got home found it , put hose back on, cleaned plugs and hooked hose up she ran like a champ!!!
