I had my 98 XP on the water twice so far this season, with no problems. On the 3rd time I tried to start it in my garage before heading to the lake. It turned over sluggishly but never started. I put the charger on it and tried to start it with the 100 amp setting. It still would not start. It would not even turn over. Just a single click sound. I also tried to jump start it with my 96 XP, with the same result, just a single click sound. I swapped the batteries from the 96 into the 98 and still the same result.
I tracked the sound to the front (black) electical box. I assumed it was the starter relay. I checked my 96 and it appears to have the same electrical box with the same relays etc. So I swapped the box from the 96 to the 98 and the 98 into the 96. The 98 with the 96 box still make the click sound. The 96 with the 98 box starts no problems.
I am now assuming that it is the starter. Any thoughts or help on this would be helpful. I read another post in hear about a possible fuse being blown while jump starting. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse panel and they are all good. I don't see any fuses in the electrical box.
