Hi, I'm buying a 1998 Sea Doo sportster 1800 for $6000. The boat is in great shape and has never been in salwater. Is this a good buy? I was told by someone to stay away from that year and model cause they said it was a "pig" lol and not fast at all. Is it true or should I buy it? Thanks in advance and this is a great forum you guy's got here.

Slow....

I'm not looking in the manual at the moment cause I'm pushed for time before work, but if I remember right, this model has the twin 717's and at 18 foot, the weight of the boat would have to make it a bit under powered when compared with the newer models, especially those equipped with the 787's or the newest, 4-TEC's.........
I don't think I'd pay 6k for it, but I have no idea of the actual value. If you can, tell them, for that type of investment, you want to drive it. I know I surely would before the purchase!

Here is a link for you to look at. http://www.nadaguides.com/default.a...&m=1463&d=1600153930&y=1998&ml=S&gc=MR&gtc=MR
It is book price on the seadoo with a trailer. It claims it is worth $6270.00 with a trailer. You can check it out and get a better price index if it has more equipment and list it for a better book price. This site is for reference only. It might be worth more if it has more equipment or has had new things replaced or repaired. Always test drive before you buy.

I have the sportster 1800 with the twin motors. Its great. Plenty of power and can pull tubers. Well it was weak until I replaced the wear rings. With a family of 5 in it, I can hit 53/54
