My left engine seen to be running hot, checked the spark plugs and the metal tip at the end of the plug is somewhat white, doe that mean it is running to lean and if so how could I correct that.

It could be running lean. What have you checked? (other than the plugs) When were the carbs cleaned last? Have you checked the compression yet?

Have no idea when the carb's were cleaned. Is there away to clean them by yourself? Will be checking the compression this week, could you please tell me what it sould be at and to do that is screw in the gauge and turn over each cyl? Sorry for all of the questions but kind of new at this.

They are not to bad to clean. I just did mine tonight. Just make sure when you pull them apart you make note of where the mixture settings and what not are so its easier to tune them once back together. To do the comp test just take the plugs out and screw the gage into where the plug came out. Motor the engine over for about 2-3 seconds and see what the reading is, then switch to the next cylinder.

Yeah, just ordered the kit, did the compression check just yesterday and both cylinders were right at 148, so I guess it is the carbs that need cleaning and the new kit.

Thanks for your help will let you know how it goes, I figured I my as well do both engines and get it over with, would you not agree?

Did the compression check and both cyl are 148, then had them rebuild the carbs and when I took it out that engine wants to stall about 45 mph, what could be causing this?

What RPM is it at? What all is it doing? does it like bog down and come back up or does it just hit a certin rpm and not go any higher or is it like hitting a point and just shutting down?

In between about 4500 - 5500 rpm and yes it bogs down sometimes comes back and maybe it will shut down, but if you are under those rpm is run perfect. It will start right backup

It sounds like the fuel pump is not able to keep up with the demand from the carbs. Did you have them rebuild that when they did the carbs?

Well you could try swapping them side to side and see if the problem stays with the engine or sticks with the pump. I think theres like 3 hoses and 2 bolts holding it on
