Ok, first off i just baught a 1998 Seadoo XP Limited with the 951cc. I baught it for $1,000 with a brand new trailer. The previous owner was a friend of my work and a local boat repair. He said that the machine took in water one time and it corroded the electrical box up front. I searched on ebay and found a box, so i baught it. He also said i would need a new bilge pump, now the part that throws me off is that i havnt heard of a jet ski using a bilge pump. So i started to get a little worried and looked under the hull. I see a smal place that looks like it was repaired. Up front i also see a scuff/scratch about 2" long and about 1/2 wide. Could this be causing water to come into the machine. If it is infact leaking, what can i do to fix it. Also, the machine is pretty damn clean and the trailer is almost new. Was 1,000 dollars alot to spend on this machine? Not sure of the hours until i get a new battery. Any help would be great. thanks.

sounds like u got a good deal man if she runs. the hull can be fixed if it is in fact leaking. some machines do have a bilge, my 97 gsx has one, i think it might have been added later though. My 550 has 2. the gsx is one flip and she is almost 1/2 full of water. if the engine was flooded, u need to get the water out a.s.a.p. pull the plugs and crank the heck out of it (after u get a batt. of course) hopefully it didnt mess up your stator and other parts. wd40 is an excellent water absorber.
