I have a 98 XP LTD that was flooded. I drained the water out and tried to start it; then the trim module burnt up. I just replaced the new module, now it will not try to turn over. I can jump the solenoid so the starter is fine. I also put a brand new battery in it. When I put the key on it beeps twice and nothing happens when I hit the start button now. It tried to start the other day just before the trim burnt up. Now nothing is happening when I hit the start button. I was told by a guy at the motorcycle shop that it could be the MPEM. What else can I do to really know what the problem is without spending at least $400 bucks on a used or more on a new MPEM? This is my first jet ski and I'm not too good with them as of now. Any help would be very very appreciated!

sounds like either the start stop switch or starter solenoid are bad. I just read a thread in the seadoo boat section on testing start stop switch, check it out, might help you out.

solenoid is easy to test, check for 12 volts when pressing start at plug, no clicky means no good.

if you got water in the motor, you need to get it running right away or you're going to have bigger issues

After getting back from my military training I have changed the wiring harness cause Topside Powersports in TN cut half the wires, "trouble shooting", is what they called it. I changed the solenoid last week and its turning over. Now I've noticed that my carbs are not getting any gas. Should I go ahead and change out the gas lines? What is the easiest way to clean the carbs; doing it myself or taking it tothe shop? To do it my self do I have to take off the exhaust to get it out?

Pour a little gas in each cylinder, that will get it running and should prime the fuel system. I wouldn't rebuild carbs or replace fuel lines until you get it running. You may be replacing the whole motor if you let water sit in it.

No, you shouldn't remove the pipe to remove the carbs, you can work around it easy enough to get the carbs out, plenty of room once you get the airbox out but you will have to unstrap the oil tank(don't unhook lines, just move it temporarily) to get the airbox out.

So just pull the spark plugs out and and pour a little gas in it to get it running first? I really dont know much that much about engines. I had the oil block off put on before because I was afraid it would go out like it did on my challenger.

If it starts running then what should I do? Start at the gas lines or carbs? If it doesnt then basically the motor is done?

I added a little gas and it tried to start. It is making, what sounds to be a really high pitched grinding noise coming from below the carbs or some place close. It will only try for about 3 seconds to start when I hit start button, and it makes that noise the whole time. It is trying to start though. I was told by one guy that it was the bendix. I'm going to get some powerful carb cleaner from yamaha cause I've been told that it will clean out anything. Any ideas besides being the bendix for the noise?
