The rubber ends for the drive shaft are like $1 piece. Rust on the outside of the driveshaft is fine and long as you see no hole in it. I check the shaft straightness by rolling in my concrete floor. Not the best method but it works. I would check the bearing in the pump you should fell and hear the grinding if the bearings are bad or if the pump fluid smells real bad and you see metal bits in it. Need the pump off for the fell and noise check. You could have a bent impeller also. Take a pic of the wear ring to show if you have a few bent impeller blades they will leave marks in a new wear ring or if you sucked up some sand to.

The bumpers on the ends of the drive shaft are replaceable. The needle bearings are pressed into the jet pump housing, the thrust washer goes into the back of the pump housing where the cone is and the impeller shaft slides thru the thrust washer and needle bearings and the impeller screws onto the impeller shaft. If the needle bearings are bad it allows the impeller to bounce around and chew up your wear ring, eat up the splines on the drive shaft. Hope this helps

We also noticed that our new wear ring on the side that isn't running good that is slipping is a little chewed up. This is a new wear ring with 1 hour on it. Do you think that the driveline is wobbling? Please tell us what we should do..thank you

It is normal for a new wear ring to have some lapping action with the impeller, this guarantees tightest possible clearance thus is necessary actually good.

However, judge the wear ring by the clearance, should be not more than thickness of a dime, more than this is too much.

Possible causes of impeller wobbling inside of pump might be bent drive shaft, missing rubber drive shaft bumpers maybe (spline misalignment will occur, damage to splines due to partial engagement), imbalanced impeller, plastic inner pump hub vanes are cracked, plastic type pump, allowing inner bearing hub to move around under load.

Make sure to obtain matching pumps when replacing, there are different styles of bearing hub diameter and material. Some pumps are bronze construction and others are plastic, some have more vanes.

Well my husband changed both jet pump housin assemblies with new impellers. One of them was rubbing against wear ring destroying it. Also installed new carbon seals with bellows and are going out today to try it out. Wish us luck.. Hope the boat doesn't sink.

Yes thank you. Replaced neoprene seals carbon rings bellows jet pump assemblies and rubber bumpers new impellers to. New rattle kits new driveline rebuild kits. Hoping this solves the problem.

Ok. They are back. The boat is leaking from the exhaust. Water coming in..they saud it looks like a rave valve. What part could be bad that we need to replace to stop it from leaking

Water regulator, has a rubber bellow in it and a clip that gets rusty and pokes a hole in the rubber piece
