Hey Everyone I just bought this ‘98 XP and looking for a bit of advice. It starts, runs and works awesome but no beeps, no gauges, no VTS. The key and start/stop button function normally but never get any buzzer.
I’m pretty handy with electrical and have downloaded the shop manual, read a bunch of forums and after doing some troubleshooting I am afraid that it’s the MPEM
I’m not ready to Hotwire the dash or replace parts without digging deeper.
I have checked every plug that I can find under the rear, at the MPEM, behind the gauges and the front E box and everything looks good/stock. fuses in the E box and MPEM check out. Battery is 12.4 volts. I unplugged the buzzer and put 12v to it and it screams like crazy. Also put 12v to the VTS gauge, tach, and speedo and function properly. Fuel gauge moves the needle but not to the right spot.
I have tried the start/stop x5 for diagnostics but nothing seems to happen.
I seem to have no power at any of the fuses on the MPEM but need to confirm with a better ground on my tester. I also still need to check continuity on the harness from the MPEM to the dash
Also, is it OK to run while I troubleshoot with the hose connected? I feel like someone told me not to because it’s hard on the impeller or wear ring.
TIA
