Hey guys...i have some experience with sea doo's as I've owned a few prior. Just bought a 1998 sea doo speedster and I fired up the right engine, everything sounded great. When I fired up the left engine, something didnt sound right. it was a lot louder, it kinda reminded me of the time when i had rocks stuck in my prop one summer. A lot of vibration. I just got it back from the shop ( they had to fix the latch for the engine ) and they gave me a tip and said i should replace the impellers in the near future because they are a little dinged up. Would the impeller issue cause the left engine to sound like this? They started it up at the shop too, and they said everything was great along with good compression. Any advice would be cool. Thanks.

thanks for your reply. no it's not the engine mounts. now i have another wonderful problem. the right engine will only rev up to 3000 rpm. lol..it's one thing after another now.

lol...duh that would make sense. Thanks guys I really appreciate the insight about the RPM's being limited in neutral. About the engine problem though, I know how the two strokes sound, especially since i had a couple of 97 sea doo's before. But the left engine is much louder then the right when i hit the gas on it. And it vibrates a ton compared to the right. A much noticible difference. The guys at the shop said my impellers were a little dinged up. Could that cause one side to be louder and vibrate like that?

you try new plugs? Seadoos make sounds at the pump assy when out of water, but diminishes once off idle, so maybe hit the water, and see what happens, paying attention to rpm gauges, see if they're equal ,and if boat performs right...

I had a similar problem last summer. Take the plugs out and look at the top of the pistons. Look for pitting and/or metal peices sitting on the piston. I lost the wrist pin bearrings and they rattled around in the top for a while.... then they got underneath and seized up my motor. Ended up replacing the entilre motor.

the one thing i'm thinking it could have been was the left engine was partially engaged in F, as the right engine was not. I would assume an impeller spinning out of the water would cause the enging to rev up past the 3000 and sound noisey? Because that's exactly what the left engine was doing. I wasn't able to get the boat out this past weekend, but i will this upcoming weekend.

OK...so I took it to the shop to have it checked out. The place said my whole left Jet Pump was bad and needed to be replaced. Well I was able to hit up a guy who was parting out of his speedster and bought his jet pump. I replaced it, but it's still making that awful low pitched vibration noise in the left engine. I dont know if this helps or anything, but I noticed when I had the water hose hooked up on the right engine the water was blowing out of the jet pump. When I had it hooked to the left engine (the one which was vibrating) the water was not being blown out, it was just trickling out the pump. Could this be a bearing problem with the drive shaft? Also when i looked at the engine while it was running, the drive shaft was vibrating a ton. Any suggestions?
