1998 GTS 717 engine low power

Newbie to the site. Have a puzzling problem. When I first start the bike it runs perfect but once it gets warm it acts like it has a retard key plugged in.

Background - rebuilt carb 2006, replaced wear ring spring 2009.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Have you checked compression? Sound like it maybe rebuild time. My GTI did the same thing run good when started then 5-10 min. it would die. Look for 150psi or so

Decided to check the fuel lines at the carb, when i pulled it off there was a green goo inside the line. Pulled the carb and checked the little screen inside and found it was totally cover with same goo. Cleaned it and reinstalled carb. Cut out a 12 inch section of the line goingfrom the tank to the carb, installed inline filter and new automotive fuel line from the inline filter to carb. Runs fine now, should get me thru the rest of the summer then need to replace ALL fuel lines. Appears the fuel lines have gone to crap.

I'm having a similar problem. Where are the filters inside the carb (s)? Is there more than 1?

There is only one mini screen filter in the carb. While the carb is in the bike in is underneath the plate next to the body. If it is off the bike with the fuel intake nipple on your left and the linkage to the right then it is the one closest to you.
