Hey guys,

Im new to Jet skis and this site

There is a 97 XPL 800 for sale that Im looking at, is this a very good reliable ski???
Is there much difference between this ski and the X4 hull, I hear the 96 XP 800 is the funnest machine out there????

hes asking 2500 with trailer, says its in mint shape.

Ay advice would be great thank you

The 97XP is a nice ski, in my opinion not as good as a 96XP. If I was buying that hull style it would be one like you're looking at because it has the 787. For 2500.00 it would have to be perfect, it should go for 1600.00 to 2000.00.

I'm currently buying a 95XP Limited for about 1700.00, it's a real rare ski (500 made), it's got a SBT premium engine with 10 hours, it's got the X4 hull. Just to give you a price comparison.

Thanks for the Info.

Also am looking at the 97 SPX, Is this ski just as good as the 96XP??? Better worse???

Thanks

I found my bro a 97 spx in mint condition last year. Same hull, same engine great ski. Oh and has a tach. Don't believe the 96xp have a tach.

95XP 800, 96XP, 97-99 spx are all pretty well the same ski with a little variations, ie tach, accelerator pump (98, 99). Same hulls and engines.
Personally I got the 99spx because love the look and the last of the x4 hull ever made.

It's the same ski as the 96XP. I wasn't trying to discourage you from the 97XP it's really a choice of personal preference, the 97XP is a newer hull design, more of a vee and therefore it's more stable than the 96XP. I personally like the X4 hull better but that's just my opinion. I did think the price on the 97XP sounded high.

Even though you didn't ask I'm going to give you some advice. If this is your first ski you might want to consider something milder, like a GSX or even a GTX, the X4 is not a ski that you will want to ride all day, I know after 2-3 hours I'm ready to put it away and ride my GSX. With the age of these ski's the prices have about bottomed out and if you want something more aggressive later you can sell the one you have and buy something else. Or just keep it like I did.

Thanks For the Info on SPX sounds like the same ski for the most part,
I have heard that from a few people Loudoo about the xp not be the best beginner ski, however Im looking for more of a play toy then a cruzer, I have been very tempted to actual buy a Yamy Blaster 1, because they look so nimble and fun.

Thanks For the input.

well he is a first timer on a jetski so wont even know the difference in the hulls on the lake. to me i took whatever i found with more importance on engine condition and how it was kept.

I would say depends on where you are riding it, rough or fairly calm. But if you want fun x4 hull is the way to go. Fast and great for jumping. I kinda laugh at people on my lake with bigger boring skis. My lake is to calm for big skis. I go looking for big boats lol.

Personally I wouldn't even want an rxp, speed is cool, but to heavy for my lake.
