1997 spx i would like to know how to tell if i have a 717 or 787 ?

i want to order parts for my 1997 spx 800 there are two options to order parts one is the 717 n the other is the 787 how can i figure out which one i have thank you myke

Is the head at an angle or is the cylinder head flat? Angled 787, flat 720. Black caps with a red circle in the middle on the cylinders, if so 787.

The easiest way is to look and the SN plate on the engine.

It's a 96 then.

Check the last 2 numbers on the hull ID tag.

or you could just check to see if it has RAVES....the 717 does not have them
