1997 seadoo gsx bad impeller?

I recently bought a 1997 seadoo gsx and the jet ski is working pretty good, but now that my girlfriend bought a wakeboard, and I am getting ready to pull her out of the water,the engine or (impeller) feels the weight, it seems like the engine is doing it's job without going anywhere for a few seconds only.
in other words I feel like the engine or impeller spins in false.

note: my girlfriend only weights 130 pounds

You can go with higher pitch to gain bottom end, but you'll lose topend speed. If just recently purchased, do compression, check wear ring clearance, just mak'n sure those are good, before you start tow'n., also go thru and clean the raves.
