1997 GTX SEA DOO Will not stay running

I have thought about buying a 1997 sea doo gtx from my neighbor. It's been sitting for a few months and will only run for about 2-5 minutes. Can someone please shed a bit of light on this issue. Is it worth my time or could it be a simple fix. How would I run a compression test?

remove the spark plugs, ground the "boots' to the "orange thing", and install tester on one hole at time, and hit start button for 4-6 sec. If all good, most likely, you need to go thru carbs.

above 110-ish, and no more than 10% difference between the 2

Thanks. I've messed with plenty of dirtbikes and atv's. How hard is it to clean the carbs out?

yeah above 110 and below 155psi you should also check into seeing if your getting good spark if not check the gaps on your plugs.

Can anyone tell me if the 1997 GTX was a pretty descent model? Is there anything I should look out for before I buy it from my neighbor.
