1997 gts Engine Starts and runs in smooth water, in rough water it dies and hard star

Hello,

I have a 1997 GTS and I have a ignition problem. When I start it for the first time I have no issues, when I take off and hit rough water it dies. When I go to start it sometimes it does then sometimes it doesn't. I usually get two beeps from the DESS, but sometimes I do not. When I get two beeps sometimes the start button does not work and sometimes I get no beeps at all and it still starts. If it does not start I pull the DESS cap on and off until I get it to start. Sometimes when it does start it immediately dies. I have pulled the switches apart and everything seems to be fine, ground is secure for both ignition and DESS, all connections seem secure in the box. I have checked OHMs for the start switch plus current and everything is fine. Is there a history with the DESS having loose wires inside it's epoxied body? I need help please advise

That's what I have thought by process of elimination. I didn't think it could be the Module because the craft works most of the time. The bikes were given too me and these are my first ones to own so i am new at these. Is there a sure way to see if the DESS post is the problem?
