I just put a rebuilt engine in my 97 gsi (717). I did a by pass on the oil injection and run 40:1 premix. Unit runs awesome. I plugged the line to the injection pump but still have the oil bath lines hooked up. While breaking the unit in today I kept getting the low oil indicator on my gauge. Oil is plenty full as it is only being recirculated for the lower end. Is it as simple as disconnecting the sensor in the oil tank?

I just did this to my 98 GS 720....I also didn't remove the 2 lower hoses and yes, the light is on. I've been dealing with it but, I havn;t dug into it yet....fixing another problem at the moment. I plan on popping the gauge with the light out and see if I could unplug it or do something? Probably easiest approach?

I think I once tricked a bad oil sensor by putting a paperclip between the connector that goes to the mpem,,,it was a 951,,,but may work for you, so try the clip, if it works, then just make a permanant connector to jump the 2 pins in the connector.
