It's got a round gage with needle for a read out and oil light. It doen't work at all, got power to it, and the low oil light doesn't work either when I press the start button with out linnard in place. Does this sound like a gage?

Uh....yep. It does sound like a description of "A" gauge. I kinda don't understand the problem. Is the problem: your fuel gauge doesn't work and would like to know how to test it? If so, check your fuses. The oil light and fuel gauge work off of different senors, could be gauge and oil light are shot, at same time. Or....the power going to these is not getting there, could be a fuse, wire, or just a coincidence that both sensors went bad at same time. Post a little more info and I'm sure you'll get some help on it.

Gage test......

Near your fuel tank, you'll see two wires coming from it. Then, you'll see a plug. Disconnect this plug and take a small piece of wire, stripped on both ends. Take that wire and stick it into both sides of the plug, going to the gage (jumper it). Then, power up your gages by pushing the button. If your fuel gage goes to 100%, then the problem is in your fuel pick up tube. If not, then do the tests that nswillin has suggested...........

Try Snipe's quick gauge test. I'm betting the gauge is still good. But the fuel sender is the most likely source of your problem....possibly for the oil sensor as well.

Here is a useful link for walking through the fuel sender troubleshooting. Not difficult, but does require some patience and determination.http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=5826

Let us know how these test go so we can guide you through it.
