Hi everyone,

Found this forum and was looking for help.

I am trying to replace the steering cable on my Jetski and do not know how to remove the plastic looking nut in the back by the reverse gate. I am sure it is plastic connected to a metal ring where the o rings are. I removed the steel nut on the inside of engine compartment and cannot figure out how to remove it without damaging it.

Please help

John

I Just did this on my friends ski about 4 weeks ago. If i remember that metal ring holds two parts together that go around the cable. That nut on the out side should back right off. Mine was a little stuck. Im sure some one of the other guys will help out here to.
thanks
scott

I did it on a 1996 seadoo xp, yours might not be the same since you have reverse??

The plastic is not threaded, it is two pieces held together by a stainless ring. If you have the nut off on the inside you should be able to push the cable through the hull a bit then slide the stainless ring from the plastic connector. Then take the two piece plastic connector off and slide the cable out through the hull. Hope this helps.

dALEF62, is right now that i think of it. i remember the ring holding the two together. I just took some pliers to it and pulled it off.
